If you want your server to ignore your order and leave you waiting 30 minutes for food that’s never gonna come, Veracruzana is the place for you.
Morebest in western mass hands down diablo
The place is nice and very easily reachable as it is located right in downtown. They also have a lot of variety of salsas with different source levels. The menu they offer is also very extensive and you will find almost all of the Mexican cuisine over here. But as I have tasted food at other places around Amherst I'd recommend you go to comalito or mission cantina which offer better quality of the same food. But again these are a little off and harder to reach.
MoreFood very good, great pomegranate martini. queso a little greasy but tasty. Menu is a little overwhelming, tables were dirty and it's a little pricey but portions were fair.
MoreAlways enjoy their authentic mexican meals Personally my favorite fish taco place!
MoreGreat food. Relaxed atmosphere. It’s definitely not a fancy place but the food was great.
MoreOne of my favorite spots in town - tasty tacos, plantains, and margaritas!
Love La Vera. Great atmosphere. Casual. Good pricing. Quesadillas, enchiladas, tacos, burritos, everything is good. Queso fundito with chips, lengua tacos & horchata are what I usually get.
MoreIt's great Mexican food, the best in amherst. A small place with reasonable prices. Great for lunch, if you want something good quick.
MoreTiny place, big menu! Everything was fresh and tasty, and I got to watch them making it all. The place wasn't quite full but the chefs were quite busy and it took a while just to order.
MoreThis is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Massachusetts. The food is incredibly authentic even though it is a little bit expensive. The quality of the food is also the absolute best that it could be. Most individual ingredients are clearly made from scratch most importantly the sauces and salsas. Don't get me started on the salsa; I think I could go here every day and eat only salsa if I could. They have six or seven varieties all made from scratch and all unique and authentic in flavor. their food is so good I have made a point to often try something from the menu I have never had before; to this end I have discovered some amazing dishes and have never been disappointed.
MoreVery good! Recommend the Sopa Azteca
Good quick mexican restauarant. No frills, No wait service.
Great food and drinks, as well as prices. Barely any seating so it fills up quick on busier nights, otherwise great!
MoreGreat vegan options like the bean burrito and bean tostadas. Some of the best salsas (like 7 different kinds) in the area!
MoreLove this place, have been going for years. Always get the carne asada burrito, tasty.
MoreGood dranks. Yummy yucca! Clean bathroom. Friendly staff. Rad.
Great food. Love the fish tacos
Great food! Chicken burrito loaded with more chicken than rice. Bilingual staff 👍
MoreFor someone who was never a big fan of Mexican style food, this place was a pleasant surprise. I stumbled upon the place in the pursuit of something different, and despite not really knowing what was what what I chose (a simple chicken sandwich) ended up being DELICIOUS. I mean seriously...well worth it. If someone that doesn't always have a palette for this kind of cuisine likes the food here, those more versed in this type of food should love it. Only gave a four because I'm so new to this type of food.
MoreThe food is fresh and very authentic! My favorite Mexican restaurant in Amherst!
Great place to celebrate one's birthday 🎉🎂🎈!
Lots of delicious food here, the staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable. Tight seating so arrive early or grab some take out.
MoreBy FAR the absolute best Mexican place I have ever been to. Margaritas are divine, the food is even better as it has the feel of that "home-cooked" meal. Don't forget to get some chips and guacamole, as well as some of their famous salsas to spread on your food! A MUST if you are ever in Amherst - you will not regret it.
MoreA good menu- Very well prepared and tasty too. Keep it up.
Has lost all of it's authentic, vibrant Flavor, under the new ownership. It's a college burrito stop now.Miss the old Veracruzana in Both Amherst and Northampton!
MoreGreat little place. I have always loved this place. The tongue tacos are so delicious.
MoreGreat quality meal with fantastic flavor. I had the Burrito Especial with chicken and the wife had Enchiladas with potatoes and carrots. She rarely cleans her plate but she destroyed the enchiladas. She’s not a vegetarian but loves veggies. She Loved the potatoes and carrots in the enchiladas. Who knew?I was a bit surprised by the prices. But the meal was fantastic.
MoreReally good restaurant. You get a good amount of food for the cost. I fully recommend getting the plate of fried yucca and fried plantains.
MoreI’ve been here more than twenty times, and I’ve never been disappointed. The food is always served quickly and tastes amazing. There is a salsa bar where you can choose from a wide variety of flavors and spice levels for any kind of taste. In my opinion, this is the best Mexican restaurant in Amherst, period.P.S. If you haven’t had Horchata, have it. It’s a sweet drink that is the perfect pair to spicy food, and a great addition to any food.
MoreTravelers, this is the place to go for Mexican in the area. It is a straight forward no frills Mexican restaurant. The food is fantastic. I recommend the chicken mole if the have it available that day. The chicken tortilla soup is delicious and the seafood is is always fresh. The shrimp and rice dishes are our some of our favorite menu items. For a great Mexican meal at a reasonable price stop here if you are in the area.
MoreDelicious Margarita's, outdoor seating option; vegan options; salsa for days.... Love it!
MoreExcellent vegan soft tacos
Great local restaurant, a favorite. Chicken quesadillas are my standard order - lots of cheese!
MoreThis place had great food at a pretty good price. Service is quick and friendly. Perfect lunch location.
MoreDelicious mole! Mole isn't the easiest and the women here carried it off very well. My friend had the cactus burrito and we both found ourselves eating too much! A good walk after dinner allowed us middle aged women to rationalize the margaritas and flan, too!
MoreGreat food at great prices. Got the chicken tamale rice and guack and flan and washed it down with a house margarita. Nice laid back no hurry atmosphere let's you wind down and decompress. We're happy we stopped in and will definitely stop in again when in the area.
MoreAll the food was made to order and delicious. Very large helpings. The restaurant is small and crowded but convivial. Offered many Mexican beverages, but we opted for the delicious horchata.
MoreGood ambience and has a diverse menu. I tried the fish burrito, which was good but not great.
MoreFavorite place for enchiladas and fish tacos!
I’m sorry, im not entriely sure how their rating is so high. I’ve eaten at mexican restaurants my whole life, I have to say this was the lowest quality authetic mexican food I’ve ever had. Grabbed taco de lengua, chicken, beef, and enchiladas. They use boiled shredded beef and chicken...All low quality and the tacos were literally half lettuce. Enchiladas drowning in cheese it was aweful honestly. This is “gringo” Mexican food
MoreThis place is great, it's authentic Mexican food!
There is a large selection of options here, and a lot of gluten free options. the inside is pretty small, so expect to either wait for seating or get take-out and bring it home if it's busy. the mole sauce on enchiladas was excellent, and the meats in our entrees were fresh, and the salsas were all pretty unique.everybody thought their meals were either very good or excellent, and the price was very inexpensive. I always love it when you find a small hole-in-the-wall place that serves excellent food. This is definitely one of them.
MoreThe food here is terrific and it comes out fast. Their drinks are very reasonably priced but not skimpy. I'm no authority on authenticity but it certainly seems to be more authentic than other places like it in the area.I'll definitely be going back for a third trip and probably many more.
MoreLa VeraCruzana has the best tasting local mexican food. Their guacamole is delicious.
MoreAuthentic Mexican food with a great salsa selection.
It's pretty ok. I enjoy the Northampton one a bit better though.
Fresh food, good price and friendly atmosphere. What more could you ask for? This will be one of our go to places when were in the area. There is a parking area right across the street as well.
MoreFast service and THE BEST guacamole I’ve had in ages!
The food was fantasticly fresh and authentic. Worth the drive. Would definitely go back.
